them in proper order. They will provide and maintain at their own cost such items as are usually provided and maintained, under the customary covenant between landlord and tenant, by tenants renting houses, such as electric light bulbs, dust- bins, etc.
All defects shall be reported to the Public jorks Department. Occupants will be held responsible for all damage to structure, fixtures, or furniture, not ⚫aused by fair wear and tear.
Additions or altorations te electric wiring in Government Buildings, or in tenements rented by Government may only be carried cut by the Electrical Office, te which any defects in electrical installations should be reported Complaints should be confirmed in writing to the Engineer in Charge of the Electrical Office. Any damage resulting from failure t●
●bserve this rule will be made good at the expense of the. tenant responsible.
Furniture is supplied to Government quarters in accordance with the approved lists and designa. With the special permission of Government, furniture may be supplied to privately rented quarters, but the officer may be called upon to bear the cost of any removal by the Stores Department of the furniture within one year of its supply. Ne furniture supplied either to Government quarters or to rented quarters may be removed except by the Stores Department.
Every officer on entering int. ccupation ef Government quarters shall sign an inventory of the furniture, fixtures, etc., prepared by the Public Werks Department, and shall give a receipt for the keys, padlocks, etc. handed over te him.
Where new furniture is supplied to an fficer he should, within three months from the date of its supply, draw the attention f the Controller of Stores to any defecta which may have developed. These defects will be mad good by the Contractors free of cost. Subsequent to this peried the officer will be held responsible.
Every officer vacating Government quarters shall report through the Head of his Department the date of leaving them to the Accountant-General at least three months and to the lublic Works and Stores Departments at least seven days before he leaves. If speodal circumstances render it impossible to give at least three months notice to the Accountant-General, the officer will be held responsible for giving notice at the earliest possible pportunity before leaving. He will be held responsible for the prompt return to the Controller of Stores ⚫f all keyз, padlocks, etc., supplied to him.
The officers of the P.W.D. and Stores Departments have instructions to inspect Government quarters and furniture at least once in every twelve months and the ccupants are required to give every facility for such inspection which will be made. with due regard to their convenience.
117. The rooms of all Gevernment quarters have battens from which
pictures can be suspended by hooks and hooks are also provided for hanging up clothes and other articles. No nails should therefore be driven int● tho walls or doors. If hooks are required in addition to these provided, application should b made to the Public Works Department and, if found to be necessary, they will be supplied.
